Speaking as someone that is not very good with words, and that does not consider himself a movie expert by any means, I really think this was a very enjoyable movie. It touched on some very good issues with the ups and downs of the friendships and with the way the characters grew and learned about themselves. I thought it was a very realistic account of the story. My daughters and I liked it so much that it is sure to be one of the movies that we watch over and over again. I highly suggest at least watching this movie.
This is a very charming movie. The young actors are convincing and likeable. The subject matter of friendship and romance, confusion and self-knowledge, is interesting to anyone. And for me as an American, it's fun to peer into another culture. This particular subset of that culture, nice students, is portrayed as having the innocence of American teenagers in 1950's American media... but that's what makes it charming.
