How to Get Rid of Mosquito 5 Proven Tips

Mosquitos are pesky little creatures that are very hard to get rid of. If you really want to get rid of them you need trusted tips but with how many there are online it is hard to find good tips. These five trusted mosquito treatments will help you get rid of mosquitos.

Use Only DEET Repellants

There are a lot of different mosquito treatments and repellants out on the market, some of them work and some don’t. Using repellants that include DEET is far more likely to work for you than others. Don’t put the DEET on your clothes though, place it on your hands and rub it on your arms and legs. While DEET is a chemical, it isn’t known to cause any harm to humans when not ingested.
If you don’t want to use DEET the next best repellant is vanilla. When vanilla is mixed with water it can be used to repel mosquitos.

Avoid Sundown and Sun-Up

Sun-up and sundown are the two times that mosquitos are most likely to strike. While a few mosquito species will operate day and night, most don’t. Avoiding being outside when the sun is going up or the sun is going down will reduce your chances of being bitten.

Get Rid of Standing Water

While it is not possible to get rid of all standing water sometimes, you should get rid of what you can. Standing water acts as a major attraction to mosquitos. By keeping water fresh and preventing it from being stagnant you can help to reduce your mosquito problem. If you have a pool make sure that it is regularly treated with chemicals, this will help to keep the mosquitos away.

Use Mosquito Bars

Various bar like products are made to be placed in any water that you can’t remove regularly. These bars help to make the water less attractive to mosquitos. You will need to replace the bars at the periods of time that are dictated by the instructions. You can find these at your local hardware store or on websites like Amazon.

Avoid Alcohol

If you are going to be outside for a long period of time than you should avoid drinking alcohol if you want to avoid mosquitos. Alcohol acts as an attractant to mosquitos. By avoiding drinking you avoid mosquitos. While most other myths about food and drink are just that myths, this one has been scientifically proven.

Don’t forget to make sure that there are no ways for mosquitos to enter your home. The best way to prevent getting bit and to get rid of mosquitos is to make sure that they can’t get in in the first place. Good luck getting rid of your mosquito problem, if you have any other mosquito treatments that work feel free to leave them as a comment below.
