Launch Party Recap

Hey guys long time no see.
I know, I know, I've been busy with promoting " Ace of Blades" trying to get it into everybody's hands. So far, so good. I have reached a small group, which is not a bad start and some even won their free copy. I will be posting their names up here towards the end of the blog ^_^. But, anyway, Monday October 24, 2016 I had my book launch party"One on One with M Yori"  and @BookRhythm  thank you very much for hosting a successful party and Max E. Stone and Syro Castor my two awesome writer friends, I thank you all for helping my night become a spectacular event and a fun one. We talked about Max's newest addition to the Bennet Series " Black Roses". And I can't wait for it to drop 珞 Max needs to hurry up because I want to read the next installment. HURRY UP MAX.  Syro Castor (Jorel) is working on an awesome mind picker which involves a lovely young lady getting a chance to live her life based on the choices she makes. You will have to read the posts to find out more which can be found in the link I provided to my launch party. I am really happy they were embraced and were welcomed and everybody loved their upcoming projects.  As the night carried onward we played my own version of " Name that song" and we had a good turnout for participation, even though I did fry some brains in the process; had no intention to. Forgive me all, it was meant to be challenging but yet fun. Again, I had a blast and as the night whined down, I forgot to talk about my book.... ???? Now how do you suppose I did that?

I did present my book, but silly me  being too caught up with the excitement I forgot one thing. I didn't talk about my book. Of course I answered the usual, " What inspired you to write this book", " Who is your favorite character", etc... But I didn't say anything else.  And that is what I am going to do now and I do have a few more announcements. So stay tuned.

First off let's get this over and done with without further a do, I present to you Ace of Blades:
" Ace of Blades": Part One of The Royal Flush Series is the first half  portion of  Book 1. It introduces Reina Hunter, an installation designer at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, who had sort of a quiet life; until she found a black envelope addressed to her with no return address. Finding a "Joker" playing card with Japanese Kanji written in crimson red ink, Reina discarded it; thinking it was just a practical joke. However, when she found a disturbing message left on her voicemail. She reconsidered her thoughts. The story takes place in Cherry Hill, NJ located in the Tri-State area where Reina lives with her adorable boyfriend, Kisuke Oshiro who is a computer engineer.   After reviewing the eerie voicemail, Reina starts thinking back to a dark past she thought she had reconciled. But then again she did have that dream about her old boss Sayaka, which makes her wonder about her dark past,is it trying to resurface?
The story is a page turner and is very suspenseful in which I was aiming for when I wrote this first installment. My whole intention to writing was to become a Mangaka, because I loved reading as a child 1 and Number 2 - I love comic books. The plot and sequence of how the writers create their stories intrigues me not only as a writer but as a reader. I love it when I read a story or watch anime and I start thinking how the outcome comes out. 9 times out of 10, usually in general a reader can guess what is going to happen. Which is good and then sometimes its not.
I did not want that when I had someone read " Ace of Blades" I wanted to write a book, not only for an enjoyment but I wanted people to start reading more; because after all, all the shows we flip through on the TV started on a piece of paper in a heap of words.
I did enjoy writing " Ace of Blades" and I surprised myself when I went back and proofread it countless times. I had to ask myself sometimes " Did I seriously write this? Or was it Jim that added that tidbit?"
There are a few favorite parts I enjoyed writing, for example the portion where I mentioned John Legend's " Tonight" which listening to that song helped me write out Rei's anniversary dinner.

I listened to other various songs which helped me create scenes in the book, especially the party that was thrown at the museum. YES! there is a party and this happened to be my most favorite portion I wrote. I do have some more scenes I did enjoy writing but, I'm not going to tell you, you'll just have to buy a copy and see for yourself.

My other intention for writing was the fact, I wanted to write stories that grabs the attention of those that have never picked up a book in their life.

'If you don't like to read, you haven't found the right book."JK Rowling

Coming across a quote from JK Rowling, I couldn't have agreed more. My first real book that actually got me into reading was " Archie comics" No lie " I loved Archie, Betty, Veronica, Reggie, Moose, that crazy Jughead, and the rest of the crew. After that, I read and read. My first novel I ever read fully was " Wizard of Oz".It still intrigues me how, in the book Dorothy was merely a little girl and she had silver slippers whereas in the movie, Dorothy was a teenager and she had "red ruby" slippers. It must have been the producer's imagination. Don't believe me read the original for yourself. Now in the "Wiz" Dorothy did have the silver slippers and they included all the witches - North, South, East and West" The "Wiz" was a good interpretation and it I would say was the closest it came to the novel. But those were my gateway drugs to reading. Also, Lucy Stone -Trick or Treat Murder, was a good one and I can just go on and on...But again I wanted to make a story whereas someone that would never even dream about reading would start, just by simply picking up my book  and just start reading. I want my book to be a gateway drug to reading.

I know the saying goes never judge a book by its cover, and a lot of us do that. We don't take the time to read the synopsis which I know is just a brief summary, but sometimes, that isn't even good enough. Sometimes, you need to just turn the first page and read it and find out for yourself if it is worth a read or not. Now, I am not saying all books are good. Some are not so good, I can name a few but I am not going to bash another author's work of art. But, the only way to know is to pick up the book an read it from beginning to end; even if it pains you.

And with that said, I hope that I inspire people to pick up a book and read, JUST READ. You find out so much just by reading a novel no matter what genre it is. Also, if you didn't know this Howl's Moving Castle" was based on a book by Dianna Wynne Jones and Miyazaki-san put his magic on it and turned it into a classical anime. Look at that?  And who said books aren't interesting. Also, I found two sequels to Howl's Moving Castle. I can't wait to read邏 them both. I hope Miyazaki-san puts his magic in them both. I think it'd be amazing.

Well, that's all for now, I'll be back on here soon, I have an announcement to make on Nov. 1 See you all there. Also, Congratulations to all of my winners through the BookRhytm giveaways:

    1. Hi Margaret....I have a lot in store for you all. I just have to get it out, when I can find the time and just allow my creativity to flow. Right now I am supposed to be Ahem...Ahem... working on Part 2 so I can launch it in February; which I plan to do this, this coming weekend...Yeah, I said that last week and that didn't happen....^_^` lol But I'm pretty sure, I will be focusing my time on part 2. I just think I need to adjust something. I do have another project in mind which I have jotted down a lot of ideas for it. I'm calling it right now " Project Saints and Sinners" And I have a lot of interesting characters for that project alone. But, I have to finish the Royal Flush series before I start that story.... I have a bit of OCD, so Saints and Sinners will not be out for a while. But if Dante and Cinza don't cut it out....Saints and Sinners might be coming out sooner that I anticipated. Book 2 of " Royal Flush series" is called King of Masks, and I am excited to work on that one....My goal for that book is to make you all hate me and to make you all throw your copy across the room and say..."Mitsuki what the hell is wrong with you."

But that is what I have in mind for now...We shall see as the future nears. I'll let you know as I continue on my journey.

    1. Hi Jenna, wow what a small world we live in...Isn't it great? When I was searching for an ideal area for my characters to live in. No lie, Cherry Hill suited Reina and Kisuke, although, they don't like where they live...and they are trying to move to somewhere else. I don't know where they are trying to move, but they are staying there for the time being. Characters have a mind of their own...But I'm happy to know we have a connection. ^_^

I grew up reading Archie comics and enjoying them. You have made me very interested in reading the original Wizard of Oz as I never knew that about the slippers.

    1. @terrndeb there is a lot of adaptations I saw from the book incorporated in both Wizard of Oz and Wiz. I think the Wiz was more accurate with Dorothy's shoes and they also showed the 4 witches ( North, South, east and west) the Wizard only depicted 3. That's another thing. And Archie was my first comic and got me reading into comic books no lie. I love it. I thought it was hilarious when the writers tried to decide who Archie would end up marrying... Yeah, that didn't last long.... If anything I'd say Betty, Archie can do without the gold digger Veronica and I think she and Reggie were a better pair anyway. But thats just my opinion.

If anything, I would love to write a comic about Carmen Sandiego and Waldo. Now that will be something wild. But I think someone already beat me to the punch bowl. T_T oh well.... :)
