We are all being “slowly poisoned to death” by glyphosate, warns Erin Brockovich, who has vowed to topple agriculture giant Monsanto in order to improve the health of the world.
Strikingly tall, with blonde hair coiffed, Brockovich doesn’t mince her words. A single mother and beauty pageant winner with no legal training, Brockovich once destroyed a billion-dollar corporation in one of the largest environmental pollution lawsuits in American history.
Now she has set her sights on Monsanto.

On a recent Saturday afternoon, in an estuary near Tampa Bay, Florida, I watched airboats move up and down the river banks, spraying massive plumes of weedkiller on to the vegetation. The state of Florida was trying to control and kill off scores of plant species. Nearby, children were lying out in the sun, though they knew better than to swim in the water, which has recently been blooming with toxic algae. Mists of weedkiller drifted downwind toward them.
The main active ingredient in that mist, and in the weedkiller being sprayed throughout Tampa Bay, is glyphosate, one of the most widely used herbicides in the US. First registered for use here in 1974, it is now an ingredient in more than 750 products, including the most widely deployed herbicide in the world, Monsanto’s Roundup. For more than a generation, Americans have been using Roundup and other glyphosate-based chemicals to improve agricultural yields, manage forests, ripen fruit and kill the dandelions sprouting from our front lawns.
This August, the jury in a civil trial found Monsanto, which was acquired earlier this year by the German chemical behemoth Bayer, guilty of causing the cancer of Dewayne Johnson, a school groundskeeper. The jury awarded Johnson $289m (a judge later reduced the award to $78m, citing statutory limits). Roughly 8,700 similar cases against Monsanto are also before the courts.

Growing research suggests that glyphosate causes a form of cancer called non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, with which Johnson was diagnosed in 2014. At least three studies, in the US, Canada and Sweden, have linked glyphosate exposure to the disease, and, in 2015, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer found glyphosate to be a “probable” cause of cancer in humans. California’s state environmental protection agency has also declared it a probable carcinogen.
Almonds, carrots, quinoa, soy products, vegetable oil, corn and corn oil, canola seeds used in canola oil, beets and beet sugar, sweet potatoes – these are just some of the foodstuffs which typically contain high levels of glyphosate. Research released in August by the non-profit Environmental Working Group (EWG) found that Cheerios, Quaker Old Fashioned Oats and at least 29 other popular breakfast foods contained what the EWG considers unsafe quantities of the herbicide. The environmental group has been urging public action to get the EPA to revise its outdated standards, which currently fail to protect the public from glyphosate in foods. Levels of glyphosate in the bodies of people in some areas appear to have jumped over 1,300% in the past 20 years, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
There is also evidence that glyphosate is an important driver of Florida’s toxic algae bloom and of similar algal efflorescences across the country. According to research conducted on Lake Erie, the algae thrive off the phosphorus released when the compound is sprayed on certain soils. In turn, human exposure to the toxic algae, which regularly kills pets and wildlife, has been linked to neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and ALS.
Glyphosate is only one of more than 80,000 registered commercially produced chemicals in the US. Some of these compounds, such as PFOA and the one I made my name investigating, hexavalent chromium, have also been convincingly linked to health crises – testicular cancer in the case of PFOA, and lung cancer in the case of chromium-6.

Unlike pharmaceuticals, which have to go through relatively rigorous (if imperfect) testing before being released on the marketplace, the vast majority of chemicals like glyphosate will never be adequately tested for their effects on ecosystems or human beings. Governments don’t have the resources, and companies don’t have the incentive. Even when safety guidelines and regulations are in place, the rate of chemicals acceptable by law may be far higher than what is genuinely safe.
The fact is we simply have no idea the extent of the harm most chemicals are doing to our bodies or our planet. And as the Trump administration undermines the Environmental Protection Agency and Republicans seek to gut the meagre safeguards that are in place, our exposure to glyphosate and other such chemicals is only likely to increase.
Many people are looking for a simple answer or new insight into the issue, but the answer has always been the same. We need to petition our legislators, exercise our right to vote, rally our communities, lobby for what we believe in, and most importantly, understand that it’s the health and welfare of our families that is at stake.

I have Celiac Disease. I have lost 30 lbs in the last 8 years, as the only grain I can eat is corn. But, our FDA allows up to 20,000 parts per million of GLUTEN in food products, and manufacturers are allowed to claim these products are “gluten free”. One part per million is one too many parts for me. And, to top it off, Monsanto owns 99% of the corn seed in this WORLD, and purchasers of this seed must dispose of any seed they have left at years end, and purchase new seed, that has been fortified with newer stronger pesticides due to the fact that the bugs get used to the older weaker pesticides. And what’s worse, is there are new species of worse bugs emerging….I think it’s worth my time, money, and health to sue the bastards at Monsanto, and our fine FDA, who are bed buddies. Sick of being sick from our food supply.

Corn is full of glyphosate, so you get big doses of it in your corn products. As the article states, gluten is not the problem, it’s the glyphosate that makes us ill. Before glyphosate, we could eat wheat and other grain products just fine, gluten and all!

I have had direct encounters with these people and had it proven to me have evil they are.They taken all measures to take control of the farmer.In the past we were able to chose any type of canola seed that we wanted,which was not controlled by Monsanto.Now we can`t do that anymore.They eliminated that freedom by taking control of all seed producers and seed cleaning company`s that if they were caught doing this they would lose their license and be fined. I as a farmer have no right to use my own seed,if caught doing so,they will confiscate any canola seed and impose stiff penalties.I have been approached by these savages and seen how evil they are.To gain access to my farm yard they low enough to offer me a leather jacket,which I did not receive.The worse of it all, the government stands behind these savages in anything that they do. many years past and I never ever seen more sad writing thanyour message. That story reminds me the after war regime in our native country, when the government swiped the chambers and attics in the village searching for seed and food and took away even the left overs from the field workers and landowners. The country was starving and no supply from the farms. After that the gov came up with fertilizers and killed the vegetations and poisoned the people.
How could that happen in the US and how this monstrum Monsanto was able to buy up the EU also? Overseas they got 5 years allowing to poison everything.
I don’t think one person can reach the goal and in the end where will you be? Takes hundred years to rebuild the ecosystem and until then?

“… If farmers apply a non-contact herbicide (like glyphosate) too early, it will be taken up by the growing plant and end up inside the seed. Non-contact herbicides are taken up by the living plant and incorporated into still growing tissues, while contact herbicides kill the tissues they touch.

Countries can use MRLs as a bartering tool to negotiate lower prices, and will raise their MRLs in response to pressure. Monsanto and other manufacturers of glyphosate have requested increases in MRLs, and been granted many of them.2
Current MRLs for glyphosate range from 0.2 ppm to more than 300 ppm, depending on the crop. Between 1993 and 2015, the U.S. EPA glyphosate tolerance levels have increased by a factor of 50 for corn, and 2,000 for alfalfa.2”

When our microbes are healthy, our immune system is stable. But when microbes are disturbed, diseases like obesity, Alzheimer’s, or celiac disease can result.
…Long-term exposure to antibiotics results in lasting shifts in gut microbiota. Cattle are fed low dose antibiotics in feedlots—not to stave off disease, but because it makes them gain weight more easily than an antibiotic-free cow. It changes their gut microbes so that they grow fat on less food. A study from March this year showed that glyphosate exposure changed the composition of honeybee gut microbes, which could make the bees more susceptible to colony collapse.6
… Plus, there is other stuff in herbicides that is dangerous for both animals and microbes. Commercial herbicides are cocktails of chemicals that include herbicidal agents and chemicals that improve their delivery. These “adjuvants” include petroleum byproducts, neurotoxins, and endocrine disruptors. Adjuvants help the herbicidal penetrate the thick, waxy layer that surrounds plant cells, making them good for breaching bacterial cell walls, too. But adjuvants are not subjected to the same regulation as herbicides, and are considered “inert” without much evidence. Desiccation means adjuvants are being applied to edible crops in large quantities (as opposed to weeds, their original target). Their toxicity has not been studied.
… So what can we do? To begin, we need to clearly determine how much glyphosate the human population is exposed to. My lab has started to do this—but it’s not easy. How much glyphosate are we exposed to? We can estimate residues in foods, but what about in the water table? Indirect exposure through agricultural and forestry use? Then we need to begin the difficult task of evaluating that risk, through animal models, and correlational studies in humans. This will not be easy, or fast.

As Vietnam Veteran who has been repeatedly poisoned by Monsanto and DOW Chemical with their Agent Orange. Now along with Monsanto’s RoundUp with added second spray of Dioxin used by farmers when the RoundUp is found to be ineffective against the weeds it suppose to defoliate and DOW Chemical’s special blend of Glyphosate and Dioxin. I found my cures using myself as a Guinea pig to overcome these defoliants, I started to detox and heal starting 4 July 2010. I started looking when a week earlier I was ready to sit in a wheelchair and it looked like I was going to be in it permanently and homeless since 2009! Before that I lived in a 5,000 sqft home. Now sick and homeless in a seriously flawed system, I asked my VA doctor, “What are we going to do about it?” and he said, “Get used to it.” I realized the VA or Doctors or most of the Medical community don’t have a clue!
I found my first step to my cures within the first hour of looking on the internet. I found that Japanese research completed 1987 showed that chlorophyll is a powerful natural chelator. Their research showed chlorophyll removed Dioxin from the blood of the rats they tested it on. This was about the time our Government was stopping funding, for Agent Orange research.
I reasoned Chlorophyll worked for the rats it might work for me and I was up and walking almost immediately. Since Dioxin, Heavy metals, Glyphosate and Antibiotics, are defoliants and I was exposed to all.
I reasoned I should start doing probiotics to reestablish my intestinal flora. Soon losing 4 holes on my belt. My labs at the VA were showing my health was improving! I started eating ORGANIC and learning how to avoid most GMO’s! Great things were happening, my waistline was improving. My thinning hair was growing back. Grey hair was disappearing. Have not had a Migraine since July 2010, Thyroid swelling was going down under my chin I think from Chlorophyll chelation of Bromide impacting my thyroid. I found Chlorophyll works with most toxins.
Now I still had my mild Parkinson’s, I found a Dr. Mary Newport was having success treating her husband who had severe Alzheimer’s with Ketones found in Coconut oil using 4 teaspoons a day and he rcovered and she felt it would work with Parkinson’s. One day I went into the VA and my then Doctor said, “You are Healthy”, as he looked at me and my Labs. I noticed on one of my labs for my Creatinine blood test was a little high so ask him, “what it meant? ” The next moment my doctor told me, ” You have stage 3 kidney failure!” He went on to explain, “It was normal, because I was a Vietnam Veteran and older,” I was in my mid 60’s guess it is the new normal.
I told him as a doctor he was incompetent, because when I started my chlorophyll cheation therapy and we both looked like death warmed over. Explaining to him I no longer looked sick like him and did not want him treating me. Particularly if he felt it wasn’t pertinent to tell me I had kidney failure and called it healthy!
It took me almost 11 months to find my cure for kidney failure. First I found according
to a study completed in Sri Lanka 2014 showed that Glyphosate the key ingredient in RoundUp is chelator that binds to the minerals in drinking water. Causing our kidneys to fail and leads to kidney cancer. Except for some farmers drinking from a soft water spring showed no effects from the Glyphosate chelation.
I Later read a blog where dialysis worker recovered from stage 3 kidney failure drinking the same solution used for dialysis and recovered. It was soft water made mixing baking soda known as bicarbonate soda in water. I used this solution for 7 days. Using a glass of soft water once in the morning and once in the evening three days later I had a Creatinine blood test. It showed I had dropped from Stage 3 to Stage 1.
When I told what I had done to my new VA doctor she said, that it was impossible!” I told her to, “Refer to my records.” I did not do any more soft water for a year to see how long it would take to retun to high levels it took a year to return to Stage 3. Developing bags under my eyes and high blood pressure.
As a Builder I felt that like an older house never having a watersoftener it takes 3 to 4 months to clear the calcium and lime out of the water pipes. I am in the process now, to clean the residual out of my kidneys, to prove this theory. I am due for a Creatinine test in February.
I found all my natural treatments noted above. Manifested themselves with improvements to my health within 10 to 21 days. Targeting food to specific health issues. Supplementation to supply nutrients lost by depleted soils. I have also found in my reading that crops grown with Glyphosate can lose up to 90 percent of there nutritional value making them very deficient.
Glyphosate and Dioxin being defoliants undermining our intestinal flora and our intestinal tract is 80 percent of our immune system. It is very possible this why we are having so many autoimmune conditions. From all these toxins allowed in our food and water.

In April our entire property was killed by a irresponsible crop duster with the chemicals and pesticides Roundup,2,4-D and Valor. 4 months after the vegetation too new growth the plants were loaded with all 3vproducts. The MO Dept of Ag gave the crop duster a warning was all. I would love to talk to Mrs Brockovich.
