Well - campaign ended. I thank those few who believed in this being a good idea and will assure that you will definitely receive the signed CD's as promised - although the time schedule is now heavily delayed.
But as mentioned in this text this project will eventually be released and I shall keep you posted.
John
Greetings from Copenhagen, Denmark!
I am John
Sund, guitarist and composer from Copenhagen, Denmark. I've
been playing and composing music for almost 40 years. For many
years I just played on everyone else's albums, but in 1993 I released
my first solo album playing alongside with the Danish Radio Big
Band.
And since then I
have released 9 albums, both as a solo artist and as part of my
different bands. Three of those albums, namely Acoustic Sense “New
Gems” (2003), World On A String “self-titled” (2004) and
John Sund - “The Open Road” (2011) was nominated by the
Danish Music Awards. Moreover I have recorded, performed with
musicians such as: Creme Fraiche, Palle Mikkelborg, Thomas Clausen,
Shashank Subramanyam, Ganesh & Kumaresh, Lelo Nika, Bo Stief, Tim
Hagans, and many, many more. I have also toured in many parts of the
world.
Now in 2012 I discovered,
through a good friend, the Danish a cappella choir Glas – seven female singers specialised in Bulgarian music – and thought that it would
be a fantastic idea to make a collaboration with them and
my band Acoustic Sense.
To my delight they were
very keen on the idea, so I went to work and wrote the music and we
rehearsed and rehearsed and recorded all the music for the coming
album “Acoustic Sense &
Glas – Impressions” which,
to everyone's joy, have left us with a very successful recording.
Imagine a female a cappella choir who's expertise is modern Bulgarian folk music combined with a group that play a style combined of jazz, world and other contemporary influences – then you'll have most of the ingredients for this indescribable genre-busting melting pot.
Normally I've had
the good fortune, through the years, to receive support for project
like this via various Danish music organizations, but for some
strange reason this wasn't the case this time, and therefore it
was necessary for me to pay for the studio recording out of my own
pocket, using up my savings.
And thus the album is not out yet.
Here is what remains to be financed
I/we seriously need support to be able to continue and finish
this project, which mean mixing,
mastering, design–artwork
and printing
of the CD's – probably also a limited edition of vinyl/LP release
if the budget is there. And this is why I'm
trying, for the first time ever – via indiegogo – to ask all you
music lovers and music fans out there from every corner of the planet
to support this project by pre-ordering the CD or just the download.
My goal
is to raise 5.400€ which will go to cover expenses for:
Mixing
2.800€
Mastering
670€
Cover
design/artwork 590€
CD
manufacturing 1.340€
And
if we are lucky enough to raise more money – going beyond the
initial goal – then that money will be used for promotion,
support for concerts/touring and printing a limited release of vinyl albums. There have been interest from several
venues who would love to present this project for a live audience, but
gets a little “scared off” when they learn, even the minimum
budget, of getting this 14 piece orchestra on the road... so any
excess funds will go to cover these expenses. On the other hand, if we don't reach our goal, the CD will still be released. It will then just be heavily delayed, but it will definitely be released eventually, which mean that you will receive the CD as promised when that time is due! Regular updates will then follow.
So finally I would like to say thanks for your ears and for
stopping by, and
remember, if you can't contribute financially but still would like to
help out, please spread the word about this campaign by posting a
link to this page anywhere and everywhere possible. Check out the
Indiegogo share tools, they may come in handy.
