Myrtle Beach on a budget: Five things to do for under $30

Myrtle Beach in South Carolina has more than 60 miles of beach, hundreds of restaurants, and unlimited options for fun.

Budget-conscious tourists might be happy to know that there are many things to do in Myrtle Beach that don’t require a lot of money. Listed below are five fun activities and destinations that cost under $30.

1. Myrtle Beach State Park offers a quiet escape from the hustle-and-bustle of the main beach. The park has three playgrounds, swimming areas with lifeguards, picnic grounds, and nature walk and bike trails. Visitors can try fishing off the park’s pier, which stretches out into the Atlantic Ocean, for $5 per adult.

2. The T.I.G.E.R.S. Preservation Station allows visitors to see and touch real tigers: Bengals, Royal Whites, and Golden Tabbies. Entrance to the facilities is free, but visitors have the option to get their pictures taken with a tiger cub on their laps for $79 for a group of five.

3. Alligator Adventure is one of the largest reptilian facilities in the world. It houses several kinds of reptiles: albino crocodiles, Chinese alligators, and false gharials, among others. The park holds live alligator feedings during April through October. Other animals on display at the facility are gray wolves, warthogs, and cranes. Tickets are priced at $19.99 per adult, and children three years and under get free admission.

4. Jungle Safari Miniature Golf has themed miniature golf courses with waterfalls and streams, and life-sized statues of animals dotting the facility. Miniature golf is a great activity for families with children. Tickets are sold at $9 until 6pm.

5. Ripley’s Aquarium has many ocean-themed activities and attractions, but the most famous is the Dangerous Reef, where people walk on a 340-foot long moving path through a transparent tunnel and see sea turtles, giant stingrays, and several kinds of sharks up close. Tickets are priced at $19.99.
