The Nightshift - Titwrench edition: DIGITAL DANCE PARTY

Saturday June 6th  // 8:30 PM- 11:00 MDT

We fully support the revolution on the ground and in the hearts, bodies, and souls of people everywhere fighting for an end to systemic racism and police terror. We support the BLACK LIVES MATTER movement and recommend reading up on the policy platforms and actions on their website because whether it’s in the streets, in congress, in your own home, or elsewhere… we can all play a part! We thank the young leaders of color in the street pushing for change and leading the way.

All donations will go to Colorado Freedom Fund

Musical guests include:

MIRROR OF TRUTH (Esmé Patterson solo project)
Singer/songwriter Esme Patterson is a founding member of the Denver-based indie folk group Paper Bird. Growing up in nearby Boulder, Colorado, she and her sister, and bandmate, Genevieve Patterson, grew up listening to old R&B records, coming to folk and Americana music later on. In her new solo future folk project, Esmé explores her personal evolution with soulful, poignant, thoughtfully constructed music, highlighted with moments of wry humor and painful introspection.

EA$$IDE LUPITA
Korryne aka Ko Ko La aka EA$$IDELUPITA performs and produces in R A R E B Y R D $, a Sonic Collective of MCs, beatmakers, and instrumental magicians bringing bangers to the city and beyond. EA$$IDELUPITA is your favorite DJ’s favorite DJ. She brings hoodrat jams to the kind folks who need to feed the hoodrat within.

BELL MINE
Bell Mine is a Denver dark ethereal synth pop solo act, playing music generally described as frenetic energy heavily colored with unresolved issues. Bell Mine takes corporeal form, in order to lean into solar bursts, shoot columns of air into places that have long been shuttered, and to bring you sound.

$ADDY
Kahoku Williams creates a driving mixture of hardstyle and industrial techno.

Local vendors:
The Office of BS will be joining us with their rad goods and designs!

….

“Inspired by personal accounts of healthcare providers and patients, registered nurse Tara Rynders created The Clinic as a year-long artist residency which serves to shed light on hospital work culture, and the rise of compassion fatigue, burnout and post traumatic stress..

Through performance, educational classes, interactive creative experiences and dance classes, The Clinic works intimately with healthcare providers and patients to create a stronger culture of self-care and a stronger authentic connection between nurses and patients so all patients feel seen, heard and cared for.”

Details:
Weds. March 28th
7:00-9:00pm
Student Commons Building
1201 Larimer Street (2nd floor, Room 2600)
Denver, CO 8020

Info:
In 2016 Joshua Allen and CeCe McDonald started the #BlackExcellenceTour as a social justice project that combats violence against trans, gender non-conforming and queer people of color. By utilizing art, activism, and storytelling to bring attention to issues affecting our communities, they are sparking discussions about justice, freedom and equality that include those living at the intersection of marginal identities.

With rollbacks in basic human rights protections and rising trends in violence and incarceration that disproportionately impact trans and gender non-conforming people of color, it is more important now than ever that we fund resistance that is for and by the people most impacted!

About CeCe and Joshua:

CeCe McDonald is a black trans woman, activist & speaker. Rising to international recognition after surviving a white supremacist & transphobic attack, CeCe has quickly become an icon in the LGBTQ community. She fosters important conversations around mass incarceration, sexuality & violence and is the star of the recently released feature length film about her life & story, Free Cece Documentary.

Joshua Allen is a community organizer and abolitionist whose work revolves around issues of race, gender and policing. Their work of coordinating direct actions, movement building and analyzing the intersections of race and gender has been a beacon of inspiration for communities seeking change. At 21, Joshua is recognized as leading the cutting edge of new social & political movements. They have organized campaigns for justice in countries across the globe.
