Texas based DJ/producer Locklear is a name becoming rapidly familiar to growing crowds of electronic music fans across the globe. His particular blend of tech house and techno takes on a 'no cheese' attitued and leans toward the darker, more percussive side of things. His original productions, and remixes have become increasingly popular in the global club scene, while his own unique mixing style and track selection keeps him in demand as a DJ.
His musical exploits began at the impressionable age of 12 when he began guitar and music theory lessons leading him to explore various styles ranging from grunge rock to jazz and classical arrangements. Locklear went on to form several bands in his formative years, adding bass, drums, violin, saxophone, and keyboards to his arsenal. During that time he also began to experiment with the production process via an analog 4-track recorder which allowed him to dabble with overdubbing and multitrack recording. Once introduced to the digital realm of production using software and synthesizers around the year 2000, he began to gravitate towards the electric sounds of breakbeat, house, and techno.
Beat programming and mixing records seemed to be the next logical step in his musical development. Thus far, Locklear has performed at festivals such as Ultra in Miami, SXSW in Austin, and Meltdown in Dallas and has shared the bill with some of today's most recognized talent, including Moby, Paul van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, James Zabiela, Uberzone, Elite Force, Meat Katie, Donald Glaude, DJ Micro, Charles Feelgood, Simply Jeff, and countless others.
Demand for his sound is steadily growing with labels such as Bush Records, Uniform Recordings, and numerous others touting his remixes and releases. Showing no signs of slowing, this is definitely an artist to follow.
