Sophie and Gabi Wagner Medical Costs

We are Trudy and Gary Wagner. We have set up this GoFundMe account for our two latest grandchildren, Sophie and Gabi Wagner. 100% of any money raised here will be used for the expenses involved with their medical issues.
Sophie and Gabi Wagner were born to our son Joshua and his wife Krystle Wagner on 10/21/16 – approximately 6 weeks prematurely. This followed a very difficult pregnancy that required frequent trips to Chicago and Indianapolis and extremely expensive infusion treatments that the insurance company refused to pay for – even though the lives of the mother and babies were at risk without the treatment. Josh and Krystle found a way to pay for this treatment but it was a financial burden that would leave any family’s finances strained.
The girls are now in the NICU at St. Vincent’s hospital in Indianapolis. Sophie is improving at a good pace and is doing well for a baby born this early. Gabi has a few more problems. She was born with omphalocele (www.cdc.gov/ncbddd/birthdefects/omphalocele.html ) which is a condition where some of the organs are outside of the body. In Gabi’s case, it is part of her intestines. She needs surgery for this but is not strong enough yet. She also has lung disease from premature birth and is having more difficulty with her lungs than Sophie and is on an oscillator respirator. She will remain in the NICU for a considerable amount of time.
Josh and Krystle also have a 4 year old daughter, Isabelle. They will be shuttling back and forth from South Bend to Indianapolis, staying part of the week in one place and the rest of the week in another. All of this adds up to a huge financial burden on Josh and Krystle.
They would never ask for a dime from anyone but we will. If you can give anything at all it will not only help them financially, it will show that there are people in their lives that want to help them bring these two beautiful girls to full health and raise them in a loving family.
