What prompted the founding of Set Jet?
As a pilot and former jet owner, our founders and I felt that there had to be a way to bridge the gap between flying commercial and flying private economically. That proved to be far easier said than done and many have tried and failed, but we are proud to say that we are the first to do so while being successful commercially.
Explain your model that allows for private flights that are accessible to more than the rich and famous.
Our program costs $99.95 to join for the one-time Security Check Fee and $99.95 per month for the Membership Fee. There are no long-term contacts and one can cancel at any time. Our flights cost between $450-$480 per person, one-way including taxes and fees for domestic routes and between $995-$1150 per person, one-way including taxes and fees for our seasonal and international routes (Aspen and Cabo).
What does the future hold for Set Jet?
We just announced our second hub in the San Francisco Bay Area (Hayward) that is now taking reservations for flights starting January 4, 2021 and will then expand with our third hub in Las Vegas by Q2 of 2021, both of which will serve Southern California. We also intend to launch daily coast to coast service (LA – NYC) which is our Elite Membership. The Elite membership will require the same one-time Security Check Fee to enroll and $999.95 per month for the Membership Fee. Flights will cost approximately $3,500 per person, one-way including taxes and fees. On the LA- NYC route, we will be introducing the 19 seat Embraer Lineage 1000 and will also offer the aft cabin for VVIPs which features two captain’s chairs, a three place divan and a private lavatory, plus a dedicated cabin hostess for $20,000-$25,000 one way including taxes and fees, which is a fraction of what it would cost to charter a small to mid-size jet between LA and NYC. Finally in 2022, we plan to expand to Texas connecting Dallas, Houston and Austin, as well as an East Coast route connecting NYC to West Palm Beach and Miami.
