It’s almost the end of November and winter has officially set in. The gorgeous winter sun, and no tension of makeup getting smudged or sweat marks, with food tasting even better, the winter wedding season is right in.

But how can brides achieve those sensational, dreamy wedding looks, in an Indian ethnic wear, without shivering from the chills? Well, for a bride who is having a winter wedding, the thought of bearing the cold in those sexy outfits and backless cholis are no wonder dreadful.

Our divas should always look the best, any occasion it might be, whatever season it might be, our suggestions would be helpful not only for the brides, but the bridesmaids too who are equally excited to don their best outfits on an intimate wedding.

Best ways to keep yourself warm at winter weddings

Opt for a warm stole by ditching your usual dupatta: If you are wearing a designer Lehenga or an embellished salwar suit, go for a warm, embellished or embroidered stole, as it matches with your outfit. You can pair a pashmina, cashmere or velvet dupatta, that will not only keep you warm and cosy but look amazing. You can either carry it loosely or drape it, your own way, to complete the look. Also, if you have the custom of wearing two dupattas, or you want to try out that style, you can drape a designer stole with your Lehenga, and cover your head with the matching lighter dupatta, as your ghunghat.

Wear warm leggings or leg warmers underneath your bridal outfit: With bitter cold outside, it is of utmost importance to cover your legs up to avoid freezing legs. And one of the easiest ways to do this is to wear a pair of thermal leggings. Your legs will be covered, keeping you warm, and you will be happily posing for the pictures and meeting the guests. Just do not go for twirling photos or videos, because that would be disastrous.

Choose a fabric for your outfits that is warmer: Lehengas and Sarees in warmer fabrics like silk and velvet, which are on the warmer side, should be opted to be worn during winter weddings. They look vibrant, rich and bright and are perfect fabrics for the winter weddings.

Go for full-sleeved blouses: Full-sleeved blouses when paired with a Lehenga or Saree looks stunning. Well-designed, embellished and embroidered blouses with churidar sleeves look super amazing. We know brides plan to look the best on their D-day with designer blouses and a little show of skin here and there, but trust me, it is not at all sexy to flaunt your skin and then shiver in cold. You can even look amazing when covered up nicely. You can also have a warm lining stitched to your blouse. This will provide you some extra warmth. In fact, you can make a separate designer blouse for your lehenga or saree just for this winter occasion. For the lining of your blouses and tops, choose warmer cloth materials for lining. Fabrics like flannel, pashmina or matka silk works great for this purpose.

Wear warm slips under suits: For the lighter occasions, go for full-sleeve Salwar Suits or Anarkalis. You can either wear a fabric slip or a thermal one. There is nothing more satisfying than looking good yet feeling warm.

Capes and jackets for you: You can choose to wear designer capes and jackets with your Lehenga or Saree. It will break a monotony to your regular look, make you look trendier, save you from the cold and elevate the whole bridal look. Carry an embroidered clutch for weddings, and set an example how a modern bride would look like.

Switch to juttis: In the winters, ditch the open-toe footwear and go for the ever-stylish juttis. It will save your feet from getting cold and keep you warm. Juttis also make an amazing pair with Lehengas. There are a lot of embroidered or embellished juttis available in the market. You just need to find one that complements your day’s outfit.
