The Oil Wars core recording session took place at the infamous Rancho de la Luna Studio in Joshua Tree, California, with additional tracks recorded in Nagasaki, Japan and Ibiza, Spain.
Philiac is a creative collective formed in 2007 on the Spanish Island of Ibiza. The Oil Wars album project also included several notable guest players from the Desert Rock and Electronica scenes. The fusion of influences is best described as "Peyote Rock".
The album conceptually occurs during the snooze period of sleep between alarm clock buzzers.
