“Irreversible” is the name of the first track featured on Deep end’s second album, “Wrong everything”, and that name states the concept portrayed in this video as it generally depicts the irreversible acts of man. This video and song are mainly aimed at making everyone more aware of man’s irreversible actions born by the earth. At first glance, the video just seems like a collection of takes in different terrains mixed with Halloween costumes, but in fact, the video is packed with symbolism that represents various irreversible acts of man that haven’t necessarily been kind to the earth. These acts have left a permanent mark which is virtually impossible to reverse and as they get worse, they leave future generations with more and more problems to deal with. A splash of water wakes you up from passivity and the different locations in nature represent an environmental urgency, the plasma globe represents technology for the wrong reasons, the fire represents the finite character of our resources and the implacable rise of earth’s temperature, the dinosaur represents fossil fuels and the irony that their demise just might well be fueling ours, the dive helmet represents the pollution of our oceans, the pilot represents the futility of war, the welder’s mask represents the unwieldy industrial revolution and the children represent the heirs of it all. Most of these things have produced our scars and wounds over time and they will only aggravate if they aren’t remedied. We like this place called home and we want to take care of it, so as John Lennon once said, “I hope someday you’ll join us”.
