The Story of Gary
(in 500 words or less)
   Gary the World's Tallest Elf outgrew his elf-sized North Pole confines, leaving behind love of family (and chiding of normal-sized elves) to travel the world. Santa reluctantly gave his permission, (but Santa really didn't think Gary could pull it off) and with Randolph the One-Eyed Reindeer as his guide (pilot and publicist) Gary flew off to new horizons.
Growing up (and up) as something of a giant at the N.P. he was made to seem clumsy and awkward because everything was too small. He sometimes felt isolated and he was teased by his smaller elf peers. As this was the situation from day one, his self-confidence never really took shape. His education suffered, and Santa saw his performance on the workshop floor wane (and he kept accidentally breaking things). Eventually, he outgrew his Mother's home (but never her love), so she sought counseling for Gary that may better prepare him for life on his own. He attended an “elf help group” where he developed life skills that allow him to accept who he is and how others treat him (that's also where he met Randolph). With his new friend and a new attitude Gary devised a position on Santa's team that would help everyone (and keep him outta the way). Thus his mission: to search out, from throughout the world, innovative and unique toys and gifts to recommend for Santa to build in his workshop. He would leave the N.P.
   Gary's larger-than-usual size (for an elf) means he is well-suited to an environment designed for humans, but his isolated upbringing left him less than worldly. That's why Randolph offered to guide him (actually that's just one of many reasons). As the older brother of Rudolph, Randolph had the DNA to navigate any course. As a former runaway who, as an angry youth, fled the N.P. (in a jealous tantrum over Rudolph) to spite them all Randolph had learned (usually the hard way) how to get around in the world.
   So here now available in song, (Gary's preferred form of therapy), the introspects of Gary, the World's Tallest Elf!
