JEE Main 2016 Entrance Exam Information
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is one of the most popular engineering exams taken by around 13 lakh aspirants every year. - In order to be eligible, the general category candidate must be born on or after 1 October 1989 and SC, ST candidate must be born or after 1 October 1984.
New Features of JEE Main 2016:
There are certain new features added to the examination process of JEE Main 2015, which are as follows:
- From this year onwards, the states including Maharashtra and Odisha have replaced their state engineering exams with JEE Main. In other words, the admission in the respective institutes will be based on the candidates performance in JEE Main.
- The other change that has been witnessed this year is that the entire admission process starting from availing of application form, filling of application and submission of application form will be carried out in online mode.

- The entrance exam will be conducted in both online and offline mode.
- There will be questions for Physics, Chemistry and Math subjects.
- The time available to the applicants for attempting and solving the question paper is three hours.
- There will be total of 90 questions and each section will have 30 questions.
- There is a provision of negative marking, which means one- fourth mark will be deducted in case of wrong answer and in case of correct answer, one mark will be added.
- The questions will be objective in nature and will have multiple options.

JEE Main 2016 Reservation of seats:

- The non – creamy layer , other backward class candidates are entitled for a reservation of 27%
- 15% reservation of seats will be granted to the candidates of scheduled caste (SC)
- The schedule tribes (ST) students are privileged for a reservation of 7.5%
- While, the candidates with disabilities are entitled for 3% reservation of seats
