JEE Main 2016 Entrance Exam Information

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is one of the most popular engineering exams taken by around 13 lakh aspirants every year. The JEE Main examination is a national level engineering examination conducted every year for the candidates interested in pursuing engineering at reputed engineering institutes of the country. The JEE Main is the first step or stage in the two tier examination process of Joint Entrance Examination. The central board of secondary education (CBSE) will conduct the entrance exam. The exam will be conducted in both online and offline mode. In online mode, the entrance exam will be conducted on April 2016 while in offline mode, the entrance exam will be conducted on First week of April 2016.

The multiple entries of application registration will lead to rejection of the application form and the applicant will not be able to appear for the JEE Main 2016 entrance exam.

JEE Main 2016 Eligibility Criteria:

As mentioned earlier, for appearing in the JEE Main 2015 entrance exam, the applicants are required to meet up with the eligibility criteria as it is an important aspect of the entrance exam. Any candidates not falling in the eligibility bracket will not be granted admission in the affiliated colleges. Following points are associated with the JEE Main 2016 eligibility criteria:

• The applicant must have qualified the class XII exam or any equivalent exam in the year 2013 or 2014.
• If the candidates qualifying exam result is scheduled for release after June 2015, it is advisable the applicant does not take up the JEE Main 2015 entrance exam rather take the exam in next year.
• If the JEE Main entrance exam is attempted thrice by the candidate, he/she is not eligible for the entrance exam of JEE main 2015
• In order to be eligible, the general category candidate must be born on or after 1 October 1989 and SC, ST candidate must be born or after 1 October 1984.

New Features of JEE Main 2016:

There are certain new features added to the examination process of JEE Main 2015, which are as follows:

• From this year onwards, the states including Maharashtra and Odisha have replaced their state engineering exams with JEE Main. In other words, the admission in the respective institutes will be based on the candidates performance in JEE Main.
• The other change that has been witnessed this year is that the entire admission process starting from availing of application form, filling of application and submission of application form will be carried out in online mode.

JEE Main 2016 Exam Pattern:

It is important for the candidates appearing in the JEE Main 2015 entrance exam in online or offline mode to be aware of the exam patter as it defines the path of candidates preparation and helps them preparing in an appropriate and better manner. Following is the synopsis of JEE Main 2015 exam pattern:

• The entrance exam will be conducted in both online and offline mode.
• There will be questions for Physics, Chemistry and Math subjects.
• The time available to the applicants for attempting and solving the question paper is three hours.
• There will be total of 90 questions and each section will have 30 questions.
• There is a provision of negative marking, which means one- fourth mark will be deducted in case of wrong answer and in case of correct answer, one mark will be added.
• The questions will be objective in nature and will have multiple options.

JEE Main 2016 Selection Criteria:

The selection of the candidates in JEE Main 2015 will be based on the following parameters and factors:

• All India Rank (AIR)
• JEE Main 2015 Score
• Class XII Marks in the ratio of 60:40
• The official authority will adapt the normalization method

JEE Main 2016 Reservation of seats:

The authority as per the Indian government rules and regulations of reservation will provide certain percentage of reservation of seats to the under-privileged or backward category candidates: Following will be the segregation of the reservation among the various under – privileged category candidates:

• The non – creamy layer , other backward class candidates are entitled for a reservation of 27%
• 15% reservation of seats will be granted to the candidates of scheduled caste (SC)
• The schedule tribes (ST) students are privileged for a reservation of 7.5%
• While, the candidates with disabilities are entitled for 3% reservation of seats

JEE Main 2016 Application Form:

In order to appear for the JEE Main 2016 Exam, the applicants without any second doubts have to fill the application form by ensuring the eligibility. The application form will be available to the candidates only in the online mode, which means there is no availability of application form in offline mode. The JEE Main 2016 application form can be availed by the interested and eligible applicants from the official website.

The online registration has to be made by the applicants in the time span of November 2014 to January 2015. For availing the application form, the applicants are also required to make the submission of a requisite amount known as application fee. Following points are associated with the payment of application fee for JEE Main 2016 application form:

• The candidates through bank e-challan or online payment gateways including payment through credit card, debit card or net banking can pay the application fee.
• The candidates making the payment of application fee through bank e- challan are required to download the challan form from application form page and have to deposit it at any CBS enabled branch of ICICI, Canara or Syndicate bank.
