Having 45 years experience within the music industry handling business affairs for a select few. Now with my label HMG, (Hurricane Music Group) I am always looking for new up and coming artists with a desire to succeed.
Alex Roberts' illustrious career began at A&M Records in the early eighties, where under the watchful eye of Bob Riteman (Sr. VP of A&R), he held senior executive positions in A&R and marketing within the first 18 months of joining. Having opportunities in working with some of A&M's roster of leading artists including Amy Grant, Sergio Mendez, Squeeze, and Sting, Alex was able to quickly establish a name for himself in the business. A&M's success sustained throughout the 1980's with noted acts that included Janet Jackson, Atlantic Starr, The Police, Suzanne Vega, Oingo Boingo, Annabel Lamb, Bryan Adams, and Joe Jackson. Alex's hard-nosed approach got the attention of Marion "Suge" Knight, who would soon co-found a rap label which many disregarded, even as an independent label. That label soon became a force to be reckoned with and in 1991 "Death Row Records" was formed by The D.O.C. Suge Knight and Dr. Dre.. As the world embraced what many thought to be a fad, Death Row Records set the pace for rap's top artists such as The D.O.C., Tupac Shakur, Snoop Doggy Dog, Dr. Dre, The Dog Pound, and Lady Rage to name a few. When long-time records executive Alex Roberts left A&M Records to handle business affairs for Death Row Records, the label continued its spectacular rise to the top of the music charts, selling in excess of 50 million records worldwide and generating close to $750 million in revenue.
Soon after he left Death Row Records, Alex founded Hurricane Music Group under New York-based and renowned music attorney Jamie Roberts' guidance. Now based out of Los Angeles and Latin America. HMG is excited to focus on building a new roster of Latin American Artists and has also opened its doors to the ever-popular genre of EDM.
