On the 20th October I'm running the Birmingham half marathon and attempting to raise £1000 for Cancer Research in the process.  I'm running for this charity in memory of my Dad, who died back in June 2004.  Sadly cancer is a disease which will touch all of our lives at some point, whether it is directly or indirectly.

Through their fund raising Cancer Research UK have been able to deliver research which has made significant progress in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.  It is an ongoing battle.  Continued funding is needed to maintain the progress and implement the findings of the research.

I've been running a few events each year for three years or so now, and a couple of times I have used them to raise money for Cancer Research.  I've found in the past that donations have been great motivation for training and on the day of the run itself.

The step up in distance to a half marathon is a bit daunting, so any support and motivation you can give me through sponsorship will mean a lot to me....
